THIS IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE MSCI GLOBAL STANDARD INDEXES

MSCI TO DISCONTINUE INDEXES CONTAINING ONLY RUSSIAN SECURITIES

Given the extended lack of accessibility in the Russian equity market, MSCI will discontinue all indexes containing only securities classified in Russia effective March 1, 2023. This includes the MSCI Russia Indexes and impacted sector, derived and custom indexes.

As a reminder, the MSCI Russia Indexes were reclassified from Emerging Markets to Standalone Markets status at the close of March 9, 2022, following confirmation from an overwhelming majority of market participants that the Russian equity market was uninvestable. To reflect this lack of investability, MSCI has since used a price of 0.00001 in each Russian security's price currency for the calculation of the MSCI Indexes.
