CONCLUSIONS OF CONSULTATION ON INTRODUCING QUARTERLY COMPREHENSIVE INDEX REVIEWS

MSCI announced today the conclusions of its recent consultation with the investment community on Introducing Quarterly Comprehensive Index Reviews for the MSCI Global Investable Market Indexes (GIMI).

Following positive feedback from market participants, MSCI will move to a quarterly comprehensive index review schedule for the MSCI GIMI. Specifically, the MSCI GIMI would rebalance on a quarterly basis and be consistent with the methodology applicable for the MSCI Semi-Annual Index Reviews which currently take place in May and November of each year.

During the consultation, market participants also noted the importance of maintaining alignment between the MSCI GIMI and non-market capitalization weighted indexes in terms of index review schedule, as well as implementation timeline. Therefore, prior to the implementation of quarterly comprehensive index reviews for the MSCI GIMI, MSCI intends to launch a follow up consultation focused specifically on non-market capitalization weighted indexes.
