TREATMENT OF RECENT UPDATES TO ESG CONTROVERSIES DATA AT THE NOVEMBER 2022 SEMI-ANNUAL INDEX REVIEW

Certain securities that are current constituents of the MSCI ACWI IMI were newly assessed by MSCI ESG Research in November 2022 to be involved in very severe controversies as well as failing to comply with the United Nations Global Compact Principles. MSCI confirms that pursuant to our index methodology these updated assessments that were published by MSCI ESG Research will be taken into account for the rebalancing of MSCI Equity indexes - including custom indexes - as part of the November 2022 Semi-Annual Index Review.

As a reminder, while index reviews for MSCI ESG indexes typically incorporate data published by MSCI ESG Research through the preceding month-end (e.g., a November index review will use data published through October month-end), pursuant to our index methodology, MSCI may use data published after the preceding month-end when appropriate. As clarified in the announcement sent on August 12, 2022, this includes, but is not limited to, cases where issues are identified with previously published month-end data, where the data was not yet published as of a preceding month-end, or where companies get flagged for controversial involvement such as very severe controversies after the month-end.
