CONCLUSIONS FROM THE CONSULTATION ON POTENTIAL ENHANCEMENTS TO THE MSCI EX
FOSSIL FUELS AND MSCI EX COAL INDEXES

MSCI Inc. (NYSE: MSCI), a leading provider of research-based indexes and
analytics, announced today the results of its consultation with the investment
community on the proposal to apply enhancements to the MSCI ex Fossil Fuels and
MSCI ex Coal Indexes. These enhancements aim to better identify and exclude
companies that own fossil fuels or coal reserves used for energy purposes (see
"Consultation on Potential Enhancements to the MSCI ex Fossil Fuels and MSCI ex
Coal Indexes" document available at https://www.msci.com/index-consultations).

Given the feedback from market participants, MSCI will implement the following
proposed enhancements to the fossil fuels and coal exclusion criteria:

- Exclusion of companies in low carbon intensity industries that own fossil
fuels or coal reserves, using business segment revenue to determine if such
reserves are used for energy purposes
- Exclusion of companies that own fossil fuels or coal reserves used for energy
purposes but do not disclose the volume of reserves held

In addition, following feedback from market participants, MSCI will consider
companies for inclusion in the MSCI ex Fossil Fuels and MSCI ex Coal Indexes
only when fossil fuels data is available from MSCI ESG Research.

The changes will be implemented coinciding with the November 2019 Index Review.
MSCI will make available the updated methodology book in advance of the November
2019 Index Review and will send a further announcement accordingly.
