CONSULTATIONS ON POTENTIAL ENHANCEMENTS TO SELECT MSCI ESG INDEX METHODOLOGIES


MSCI has announced today the launch of two consultations with the investment community on a series of methodology enhancements to select MSCI ESG Index methodologies.

1) MSCI ESG Screened Indexes

MSCI proposes to strengthen the climate and controversies screens used in MSCI ESG Screened Indexes.

2) MSCI KLD 400 Social Index, MSCI USA Catholic Values Index, MSCI USA ESG Select Index

MSCI proposes to enhance the climate risk profile of these indexes through the introduction of climate related screens, and adjust the controversial business involvement criteria to be consistent with MSCI ESG Research's Exclusions Framework.

MSCI invites feedback from market participants regarding both consultations until September 24, 2021 and will announce the results of the consultation on or before September 30, 2021.
