CONSULTATION ON A POTENTIAL ENHANCEMENT TO THE MSCI LOW CARBON TARGET INDEXES METHODOLOGY

MSCI announced today the launch of a consultation with the investment community on a potential enhancement to the MSCI Low Carbon Target Indexes Methodology.

Specifically, MSCI proposes to introduce a guaranteed minimum reduction of 30% in Carbon Exposure (both Carbon Emissions Intensity and Potential Emissions Intensity) in Low Carbon Target indexes relative to their respective market cap weighted parent indexes, to be applied as part of the optimization process during Index Reviews.

MSCI invites feedback on the proposal from market participants on or before April 17, 2025, and will announce the results of the consultation as well as the implementation timeline on or before April 30, 2025.

Please note that this consultation does not apply to the MSCI Low Carbon Target Core Indexes Methodology.
