CONCLUSIONS FROM THE CONSULTATION ON THE POTENTIAL RECLASSIFICATION OF ICELAND
TO FRONTIER MARKETS STATUS

MSCI Inc. (NYSE:MSCI), a leading provider of research-based indexes and
analytics, announces today that it is maintaining the MSCI Iceland Indexes on
the review list for potential reclassification to Frontier Markets status as
part of the MSCI 2020 Market Classification Review.

Although the Iceland equity market meets most of the accessibility criteria for
Frontier Markets, this decision is based on further analysis following the
consultation feedback, where international institutional investors raised
concerns regarding the foreign currency reporting process, availability of
brokers and that the removal of capital controls took place relatively recently.

MSCI believes that it is important to continue to engage with the international
investment community on the potential inclusion of the MSCI Iceland Indexes to
Frontier Markets status. MSCI will announce the results of the consultation as
part of the MSCI 2020 Market Classification Review.
