UPDATE TO THE MSCI ACWI SUSTAINABLE IMPACT INDEX AND MSCI GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT INDEX METHODOLOGY BOOKS

MSCI Inc. (NYSE: MSCI), a leading provider of research-based indexes and analytics, has updated the MSCI ACWI Sustainable Impact Index and the MSCI Global Environment Index methodology books to reflect the new definition of Alternative Energy. The updated methodology books are available at: https://www.msci.com/index-methodology.

Since December 2020, revenue derived from natural gas cogeneration is no longer considered by MSCI ESG Research in its environmental impact model. As a result, the definition of Alternative Energy no longer includes natural gas cogeneration as a subcategory.
